Clark, on the far right of photo, grew up in Plymouth WI, the second eldest of 4 siblings. After high school, Clark went to college at UW-Oshkosh, but soon transferred to UW-Green Bay to be closer to his future wife, Cate. In 1974, Clark graduated from UW-Green Bay with a Bachelors of Science in regional planning. He then traveled around Europe for a number of months before settling into his career at Aerometric Engineers.
Later down the line, Clark moved to Milwaukee, where his brother convinced him to get into the printing business. Clark bought his first printing press in 1982, without knowing a thing about printing. Over the following months he taught himself how run the press like an expert and Clark Graphics was born.
After operating out of a basement for a number of years, Clark opened his first store front in 1985, right around the corner from our current location, in what used to be Atomic Records. Clark operated the business there until the growing demands of his customer base led him to relocate to our current location at 2915 N Oakland Ave in 1988.
Over time, with the business growing, Clark was able to invest in capable new employees and brought on future managers Corey and Kevan, followed by valuable additions in Asa, Maria, and later additions of our pressman, Adam as well as our part-time employees.
If there is one thing that Clark is adamant about, it is that Clark Graphics wouldn’t be where it is today without his team of dedicated and skilled employees that he has instilled his simple founding philosophy on: treat your customers like you would like to be treated, and don’t let a job go out the door that you wouldn’t like to receive if you were a customer.
